At present, only Whitehorse has a cell 800 service. You can use regular cell phones within the city limits but you will need a cell 400 phone or a radio phone to communicate anywhere else. The Yukon is completely served by satellite telephones that allow for full voice, fax and data transmission from any location. These phones are available for rent in the Yukon. Walkie-talkie frequencies should be cleared with Industry Canada.
